As part of ISRA’s aim to become an international platform for the discussion of Islamicjerusalem Studies and to encourage young scholars and to recognise achievements of individuals who have contributed to Islamicjerusalem and its studies two prestige awards are granted.

PRIZE FOR YOUNG SCHOLARS

To encourage young Scholars to specialise in this field, ISRA presents this annual award. The Academy awards this international prize to encourage young scholars who have produced creative and innovative research and outstanding academic work in any specialisation related to Islamicjerusalem Studies. The winner of the Prize receives is presented with a certificate and a cash prize. Since 1997 five people have been given this prestige prize.

Haitham al-Ratrout for his MA thesis on the Dome of the Rock. 2000

Othman Al-Tel on his work on the early Muslim accounts of the first conquest. 2002.

Prestiges

AL-MAQDISI AWARD

In addition to the prize for young scholars, ISRA has also introduced another award for those individuals who have served Islamicjerusalem in a very significant and special way. Winners of this special Award will undertake a certificate and Al-Maqddisi as a title, in appreciation of their work for the region. This award was presented so far to two prominent figures.
